Hey there. I’m Tanya. I’ve made some smart decisions in my life and, as I’m now fully aware, some really dumb ones. I’ve managed to land myself in $332,546.56 of debt. A self-employed attorney in a major metropolitan area in the eastern part of the United States, I’m in the process of modifying my life, making decisions, and devising a plan to get myself out of this tsunami of a situation.
I’m also a single forty-something. So, in addition to the fact that I’m a bit on the older side while working out of my financial mess, I’m also navigating the process as a single woman. While I’m not complaining about my single status (I know that’s a bit odd for a single, childless woman in her 40s), I do recognize that there are benefits and drawbacks to my status.
So, I’m self-employed, single, and absolutely drowning in debt – a level of debt that is unfathomable to most people. I’ve made a tremendous mistake and I take full ownership of it. Here at Single Girl Slays Debt, I chronicle how I will (1) take control over my finances, (2) increase my income, and (3) slay this debt, all while having adventures in singledom. I promise to share the highs, the lows, the uncertainties, and, of course, the background.
I can’t say that I know what all this journey will entail. I do not know “the how.” I only know “the what”. I must get free of my self-imposed prison. It. Will. Happen. I’d love for you to come along with me. Your feedback is appreciated and encouraged. Feel free to post in the comments or, if you’d prefer, you can reach out to me at tanya@singlegirlslaysdebt.com. I truly welcome your thoughts and will do my very best to respond to those who reach out.
